Things Will Never Be The Same

by Juan Sánchez

Juan Sánchez is a Spanish music producer, pianist and composer based in Barcelona. He creates ambient classical piano-driven music. His dream is to tell his own stories without lyrics, allowing people to connect with music on an emotional level. In 2021 he was nominated for the Hollywood Music In Media Awards in the category of Best New Age/Ambient Music for his composition ‘Le Grand Bleu’. In 2022, he received an InterContinental Music Award for Best New Age song with his composition “Blue Nights”.

‘Things Will Never Be The Same’ is a great song by the Swedish band Roxette, which appeared on their 1991 hit album ‘Joyride’. Sopranos Kirin and Juan decided to do a relaxing piano and vocal cover of the song themselves Ethereal/permissive style as they both love it.

The inspiring story of this cover is that one day he was checking the YouTube channel of soprano Kirine and he found that she did an amazing cover of another song by Roxette entitled ‘Almost Unreal’. He 3 in love with that cover so he got in touch with Kirine to ask her if she would be interested in doing a different cover of that same song together with him. He replied suggesting that they could do a cover of a different song by Roxette instead and finally she suggested the other song ‘Things Will Never Be The Same’. This cover of ‘Things Will Never Be The Same’ is dedicated to the loving memory of Roxette’s singer Marie Fredriksson who sadly passed away in 2019 after a long battle with brain cancer.

They decided that for this cover, they did a relaxing ethereal/ambient piano and vocals version as this is the type of music that they both create and resonate with them. As expected, Kirine did an amazing job with the main and backing vocals parts.

This cover song is a beautiful example of pop music – a wonderfully soft and honest way about life and love and memories. There is an undeniable element of personal involvement, but for the most part, the song is likely to reach the heart of anyone who can relate to what the artist has experienced.
