Previously, Rodriguez was the frontman of alternative rock band Sunning (2013-14), emo band Seechange (2015) and screamo band Otherworld (2019). He released his first hip-hop and R&B record as Lil Sammy Junior shortly after parting ways with Otherworld.Rodriguez says that life experiences fuel his creativity and help enrich his music. The hip-hop artist says: “Music is a vessel for me to express myself, to talk about what I’ve been through and what I hope to build for the future. I like to create from pure feelings and emotion which is why I freestyle my songs – I see them as direct streams of consciousness from my heart, filtered through my brain, imprinted on a record.”Rodriguez first began performing music at church as a child. In 2008, he began uploading cover songs on YouTube under the username S4MASAUR. Now, having performed around Long Island and the tristate area with bands and as a solo artist, he’s focused on producing more influential music as Lil Sammy Junior: “I hope I can inspire others to create what they love so that they can impact the world and make it a better place.”
