MVI (Mark Vickness Interconnected) is a musical collective led by Mark Vickness, a progressive acoustic guitar virtuoso from the exciting San Francisco Bay Area. Their most recent instrumental CD, “In The Rain Shadow,” is a beautiful ode to the majesty and force of nature.
Beginning his musical education at the tender age of six with piano lessons, Mark has subsequently explored a wide range of musical styles. He has an extensive background as a jazz guitarist, composer, and arranger, as well as a bachelor’s and master’s degree in composition, as well as expertise on classical piano, guitar, sitar, and tabla. His diverse musical background also includes scoring films and choreographing dance.
Inspired by Mark’s relocation to the Owens Valley high desert in California in the late 2020s, the concept album “In The Rain Shadow” is named after the region. Mark was moved by the stark beauty of his home in the rain shadow, an area that receives very little rain due to unusual wind patterns. With track titles inspired by geographical and climatic elements, this album captures the humbling, serene, and awe-inspiring spirit of living under the rain shadow.
With its rich, layered instrumentation, “Roadrunner” transports listeners on a musical voyage whose sonic landscape reflects the beauty of nature. Mark Vickness and MVI have created an aural masterpiece that touches the heart and the environment.
